NCAC Merit Badge Classes
We run several merit badge courses through the National Capital Area Council. See their website for scheduling and sign-up.
NCAC Schedule →A space where curiosity drives learning and hands-on exploration sparks growth — the perfect place for your next scout program. At Innovation Academy, we break the mold of traditional education. We meet kids where they are and encourage them to build, question, and discover the world around them.
We are excited to provide opportunities for scouts to experience hands-on, fun STEAM education. We offer a wide variety of Scouting America Merit Badges with certified Merit Badge Counselors, troop meeting night activities, GSUSA badge earning programs, and customized events for your specific vision.
Our programs are designed for the needs of your individual troop or group of scouts. Send us an inquiry to get the conversation started.
Earn badges in woodworking, robotics, design, engineering, and everything STEAM. We partner with troops from Daisies to Ambassadors to create tailored badge offerings — past projects include woodworking and engineering badges for Juniors, Brownies, and Cadettes.
Scouts problem-solve and tackle budgeting challenges to design contraptions that keep an egg safe. Using "BuildMo Bucks" to plan and gather materials, they also learn to use a laser cutter for precise designs. Reflection on teamwork and lessons learned wraps the activity.
We teach scouts how to assemble and code Cutebots. Following engineering principles, they modify the code to control lights, play music, and react to inputs. The coding challenge: navigate the robot through a maze — demonstrating coding skills and problem-solving.
Scouts use Adobe Illustrator to create their own unique wooden lanterns. They learn about laser cutters to craft precise models, master portraying unique features, and explore cutting and engraving materials for 3D models. Take home an awesome lantern.
Scouts split into groups to build slot cars that maintain contact with copper tape on the track. After building, they test their cars and observe how the motor converts kinetic to electrical energy. They adjust designs to improve stability and optimize contact — emphasizing teamwork, problem-solving, and creativity.
Students learn the wonders of 3D printing technology. Through hands-on activities and engaging lessons, they discover how to successfully print on Ender 3 printers and work with CAD software platforms to create their own designs. Everything they print, they take home.
Earn badges in woodworking, robotics, engineering, design, and more. We partner with Girl Scout troops from Daisies to Ambassadors — tailored to your troop's goals, ages, and level.
We offer merit badge courses through NCAC, and can design private courses tailored to your troop. These are some of the badges we've run in the past.
